Mercor provides a holistic service to support most relationship based contracting strategies employed by the engineering and infrastructure industry. Mercor’s consultants have an impressive track record in all aspects of relationship based contracting spanning more than 10 years and we understand the need for creative project delivery models in order to attract the best available contractors and engineering resources. Our consultants have assisted many clients in setting-up, developing and awarding alliances, early contractor involvement (ECI), and other contracting arrangements for their major projects. Some of these projects have won numerous awards both in Australia and internationally.
The key services required by alliances and relationship contracts are in the four broad areas of governance and leadership, collaboration and teamwork, strategic procurement and business excellence. With ECI arrangements we combine the principles of alliancing and the traditional design and construct contract. Engaging the contractor early in the project greatly enhances the design development process and promotes a better understanding of the project by all parties. Potential risks are also better understood resulting in robust risk adjusted pricing (RAP).We bring the knowhow and the processes to work with client teams and alliances to resolve issues, find creative solutions to problems, develop buy-in and motivate people to drive towards truly exceptional outcomes. We do not subscribe to a ‘one size fits all’ approach and endeavour to work with our clients to develop approaches that are ideally suited for the specific objectives of each client.
All the activities we undertake including workshops and interventions must have context and purpose, whether from an agreement, a corporate policy, or some other mandate. In our workshops we first explore the context and purpose with participants, move on to the intent and finally develop the content. In this manner participants derive real benefit and are better equipped to translate workshop outcomes into the workplace.
Mercor’s experience with relationship based contracting has consistently demonstrated that each project is unique as it has its own unique issues, constraints and objectives that must be considered. Each project can benefit from a relationship management plan. The issues, constraints and objectives can have a profound impact on the management methodology. Mercor’s preferred mode of operation is to fully develop the relationship management methodology with the client to ensure that all issues, client objectives and wishes are accurately and fully identified at commencement and factored into the methodology. Tailoring the plan following a time of data collection and analysis is critical to successful implementation.
